Sound check: American English, Sixteen Candles and more at Carpool Concerts

Carpool Concerts

Get ready for some spectacle when Duff Entertainment's Carpool Concerts roll into the Boomers Stadium parking lot in Schaumburg this weekend. The concerts - Thursday through Sunday, July 9-12 - are built on a drive-in model: Pull up and enjoy the show. Cars will be parked 12 feet apart, so revelers can dance outside their cars while maintaining social distancing. The 75-minute performances include Sixteen Candles at 6 and 9 p.m. Thursday, July 9; Boy Band Review at 6 p.m. Friday, July 10, followed by Trippin' Billies at 9 p.m.; Southern Accents at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 11, with Rod Tuffcurls & the Bench Press at 9 p.m.; and finishing up with American English at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 12. Concessions will be available.

General admission at 1999 Springinsguth Road, Schaumburg, is $30 for cars with two guests, $45 for three and $50 for four. VIP parking spots in the first four rows closest to the stage go for $60 for two guests, $90 for three and $100 for four; food service will also be provided in VIP. Tickets must be purchased in advance at ticketweb.com (bit.ly/BoomersCarpoolConcerts). No ticket sales will be allowed at the stadium.

Truck stops

Donnie Biggins, who runs the show at FitzGerald's and Chicago's Tonic Room, takes the pickup truck stage himself Saturday afternoon as he plays FitzGerald's Truck Concert Series. Starting at 3 p.m., Biggins will play the free show in a neighborhood in the south Oak Park area (TBA closer to the show), but it can also be streamed live at the FitzGerald's Facebook page.

RaviniaTV

In case you missed it, last Friday Ravinia debuted its new streaming weekly variety show, RaviniaTV. You can revisit the performances by jazz legend Ramsey Lewis and rock band Chicago at ravinia.org. And watch for this week's edition at 7 p.m. Friday, July 10.
