Glen Ellyn Boo Bash a costume ball for kids

Olaf, the snowman from the movie “Frozen,” is sure to be there. And Thor and Captain Marvel are expected to show.

The real question that remains unanswered about this year's Boo Bash is who else will materialize at this costume ball for little ones, many of whom will be dressed as their alter egos just like the costumed characters they'll encounter.

The Glen Ellyn Park District event is set for 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Maryknoll Park, 845 Pershing Ave.

“Boo Bash is a Halloween event for children 2 to 8 years old,” said Courtney O'Kray, marketing and communications supervisor for the park district. “We encourage kids to wear costumes. We're hoping for some nice, warm weather on Saturday.”

Visitors will be invited to walk along the “trick-or-treat trail,” where costumed characters will be treating them to candy and prizes.

O'Kray said the full guest list of costumed characters on the trail has yet to be confirmed, but children may see such favorites as Elmo, Mickey Mouse, The Man with the Yellow Hat, a Minion or two and maybe a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Characters are portrayed by staff and student volunteers, she said.

Children typically bring a creative variety of characters and likenesses to the event.

“It's always very cute, all the kids in their costumes,” O'Kray said.

A storyteller from the Glen Ellyn Public Library will tell tales and there will be pumpkins for decorating.

Little Miss Ann, an award-winning Chicago children's musician and entertainer, will perform in the park from 10:15 to 11 a.m.

Event tickets are capped at 150 and registration is required.

“We've been running Boo Bash for quite a number of years,” O'Kray said. “This event will sell out.”
