Small seating area has charming potential

Our house has side entrances with a side driveway. Over the years we have tried to create a serene sitting area off the kitchen door. My ideal space would be a comfortable area where we could have our coffee in the morning and tea in the evening because we are newly retired!

Two years ago our beautiful shade tree had to be removed due to a bug infestation. We planted a new tree but in a different area based on the "tree doctor's" suggestion. This left us with an area of uneven dirt. Seating is limited and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated for entertaining.

We typically decorate the patio with annual flowering potted plants. We enjoy sitting outdoors and enjoying looking at our landscaping.

We would love to improve our current situation and would welcome any help or suggestions.

These recent retirees have a small, brick seating area along the side of their home. They hope to turn it into a cozy area for enjoying morning coffee.

Suggestions

• Add a small cafe bistro table with two chairs.

• A small tea cart can be used beside the grill, or to hold planters or for drinks and snacks to expand the entertaining space.

• Incorporate flower planters to add color and complement the outdoor decor.
