The seared salmon pesto is a new dish on Houlihan's spring menu. Courtesy of Houlihan's

Spring forward

Houlihan's new spring menu might get your stomach growling. Start off with an app such as tuna poke nachos (diced tuna tossed in ginger soy dressing with won ton chips, chile aioli, red onion, jalapeño and avocado). Or look straight toward the new entrees such as Sedona shrimp pasta (fettuccine in an ancho butter sauce with sautéed shrimp, tomato concasse, spinach, basil and focaccia crisps), Oh Kale Yeah Salad (quinoa, kale and organic greens with roasted tomatoes, red onion, charred corn, chive pesto and croutons tossed in a champagne vinaigrette and topped with grilled chicken or roasted cauliflower), Bavette steak (an 8-ounce cut served with chimichurri, cauliflower mash and roasted cauliflower) and seared salmon pesto (spaghetti squash “noodles” mixed with chive pesto, crushed tomatoes, cotija cheese and balsamic glaze). For your sweet tooth, check out the Giant Peanut Butter Cup topped with whipped cream, sea salt and roasted peanuts or the new vanilla bean cheesecake. In time for summer are two new flavored mules (the base drink is SKYY Vodka, fresh lime and Gosling's Ginger Beer): pineapple or watermelon.

Houlihan's is located at 1508 S. Randall Road, Algonquin, (847) 658-4560; 1322 Commons Drive, Geneva, (630) 345-8000; 2860 Showplace Drive, Naperville, (630) 536-0022; and 321 Rice Lake Square, Wheaton, (630) 690-5550; houlihans.com/.
