At Work teams ready to celebrate their accomplishments

Fittest Loser At Work participants are preparing to celebrate as the challenge comes to an end.

Teams are reflecting on the experience and sharing their final take-aways.

Andrea Granias of Hanover Park Finance Department's “Hanover Net Loss” says, “The team plans on continuing their journey and working together to reach their individual goals. Several of the members now have opened memberships with the park district and go during lunch to attend classes or work out on equipment.”

Other teams are also making plans to continue working out as a group.

Team captain Aileen Tischauser of Elk Grove Village Park District's “Elk Strong” says, “We have decided that we will keep up with Wednesday workouts and twice a month get-togethers so we have time to talk, laugh and enjoy each other.”

Nikki Bittner, team captain of Mount Prospect Park District's “MPPD All-in” says, “Aside from the strengthening of friendships and the spark of excitement as a whole from the park district staff, we have been reminded of what is possible by being part of a team. There were ups and downs, but the high of the comeback far outweighed the lows.”

Participants are excited about small changes and have discovered some surprises along the way.

Team captain Kim Jurkowski of Schaumburg Park District's “Schaumburg Shredders” says, “Some surprises are just being amazed as to what the body is capable of and how even a little weight loss can affect overall blood pressure and cholesterol, and risk factors decrease significantly.”

Working out has a new meaning for some teams.

Team captain Lorrene Conino of Salon Lorrene's “Cut It Out” says, “We actually look forward to working out, even if it's at 5:30 a.m. Working out has become such a huge part of our life that we feel regretful when we miss one.”

Jean Saritas of AVS Companies “Out my Weigh” says, “I have learned that even by losing about 10 pounds, I feel better, have more energy and my hips don't hurt as much. I can walk faster and longer and I am not as out of breath going up stairs.”

Teams are beginning to celebrate their success, including “Team Down-sizers” who went on a group lunch at a local healthy restaurant.

Team captain Monica O'Byrne says, “I am confident that every team member is going to keep up the good work and continue with their healthy lifestyles and practice all they've learned.”
