Living Colour joins Naperville Ribfest musical lineup

The band Living Colour will share the stage with Billy Idol on July 3 at Naperville's Ribfest, organizers said Friday.

"Their sound is influenced by heavy metal, funk, jazz, hip-hop, punk and alternative rock, and their lyrics are complex and compelling," Ribfest co-chairman Sandy Rocush said.

The band, making its first appearance at Ribfest, has performed for more than 30 years. It features founder and guitarist Vernon Reid along with vocalist Corey Glover, drummer Will Calhoun and bassist Doug Wimbish.

This year's Ribfest lineup on the Navistar Main Stage also includes Flo Rida with fireworks on July 4 and Brantley Gilbert July 5. The July 6 headliner will be announced soon.

Tickets are available at ribfest.net.

This year's Ribfest, sponsored by the Naperville Exchange Club and dubbed "Last Nights at Knoch" will be the last held at Knoch Park, 724 S. West St. Organizers are preparing to find a new home in 2020 and beyond to allow for Knoch Park renovations.

Ribfest proceeds go to charities that work to end child abuse and domestic violence, and the festival has donated roughly $16 million toward those causes in 31 years.
