Widescreen: Two C2E2 sneak peeks from AMC

"Into the Badlands," AMC's post-apocalyptic martial-arts action series, returns for its final eight episodes beginning with a two-night premiere at 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, March 24-25. If you're among the thousands of costumed characters at this weekend's C2E2 convention at McCormick Place, you can see the premiere a day early alongside star Daniel Wu and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

The screening and panel discussion begin at 11:45 a.m. Saturday in Room S404 at the three-day comics and entertainment convention that is celebrating its 10th year in Chicago. Tickets are still available at C2E2.com and at the door.

But wait, there's more

C2E2 attendees can also get an advance look at AMC's next foray into sci-fi and horror at 4:30 p.m. Friday on the convention's main stage.

"NOS4A2" (think "Nosferatu" on a license plate) stars nerd icon Zachary Quinto ("Star Trek," "Heroes") as Charlie Manx, the vampiric villain of the 2013 novel upon which the new series is based. The new show, steered by "Fear the Walking Dead" producer Jami O'Brien, premieres on a yet-to-be determined date this summer.

Sound familiar?

Before they went "Into the Badlands," Gough and Millar wrote and developed "Smallville," the 10-season superhero show that begins with a teenage Clark Kent (Tom Welling) coping with the extraterrestrial powers that will eventually make him Superman. All 217 episodes of the series co-starring Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang and Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor are available for streaming right now to Hulu subscribers.
