Four suburban homeowners win room makeovers

The Daily Herald's Room For Living room-makeover contest drew entries from nearly 280 readers this year, our highest turnout yet. We profiled 15 finalists in makeover design suggestions from our sponsors - and each of those winners will receive a $25 gift card from contest sponsor Treetime Christmas Creations in Lake Barrington.

Four finalists were chosen as prize-package winners:

Claudia Fisher of Mundelein

Living Room Makeover valued at more than $5,000, presented by O'Reilly's Furniture & Acanthus Design. Prize package includes a design consultation on space with Debra Watson from Acanthus Design in Barrington, a 6-by-9-foot area rug bound in a neutral color, $4,000 in furniture from O'Reilly's Furniture in Libertyville and a $100 Treetime Christmas Creations gift card.

Darice Augustine of St. Charles

Bathroom Makeover valued at more than $7,000, presented by Bath Planet of Chicagoland. The Bath Planet prize package includes a consultation with a Bath Planet designer, a new tub/shower base, new wall surround, new chrome plumbing fixtures, one shower accessory plus a $50 Treetime Christmas Creations gift card.

Frances Silver of Schaumburg

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing valued at more than $7,000, presented by Kitchen Planet, including a consultation with a Kitchen Planet designer and 14 openings in the kitchen refaced with thermafoil, 10 linear feet of laminate countertops plus a $50 Treetime Christmas Creations gift card.

Donna Mitchell of Roselle

Interior Door Makeover valued at more than $2,500, presented by HomeStory Chicago, plus a $100 Treetime Christmas Creations gift card.
