Yard has become an embarrassment to family

Because I am embarrassed to have the ugliest backyard on my block, I want to have a place where I can entertain and not feel ashamed this is my yard. The backyard needs a makeover. It needs some love. The backyard has sprigs of onion growing in it that were not planted by me. It has a pizza oven that hasn't worked for 50 years!

The patio is cracked and uneven. Grass can't grow because there is clay back there and not dirt. My own dog doesn't want to stay back there. As you can see from the picture, it has so much potential and I know winning this contest will help remove my address from the list of pathetic yards and make it a showstopper.

This family's home has a barren yard and empty patio. The owner is asking for us to give it some tender loving care and, boy, does it need it - starting with the pizza oven that doesn't work.

Budget: $10,000 or more

Suggestions

• It's not hard to figure out where to start. Fix the pizza oven!

• Then, this would be a beautiful yard to add a fire pit circled by Adirondack chairs.

• Patio furniture is in order, starting with a dining area. I recommend our Ravello woven grouping.

• I also suggest adding planters around the patio to improve the ambience.
