Williams Street Repertory's season to include dog comedy, Johnny Cash musical

Williams Street Repertory, a company in residence at the Raue Center for the Arts in Crystal Lake, announced Tuesday its 2018 season will begin May 4 with a revival of A.R. Gurney's "Sylvia."

The comedy is about a restless, middle-aged man who meets a stray dog - a female Labrador/poodle mix - in New York City's Central Park and is immediately smitten. A love triangle develops between the man, the dog and the man's wife, who is less than thrilled with her husband's puppy love.

That's followed by "Ring of Fire," which runs July 6 through Aug. 12. The jukebox tuner salutes Johnny Cash with two dozen hits including "I Walk the Line" and "Folsom Prison Blues."

WSR's season also includes LAB, a new play reading series that runs on select Mondays, and a sketch comedy and improv show that takes place on the third Thursday of the month. Performances are at the Raue Center, 26 N. Williams St., Crystal Lake.

Individual RaueNOW memberships start at $50 and include discount tickets, early access to new events and behind-the-scenes advantages. Individual tickets start at $35.50 for nonmembers and $24.85 for members.
