Author events: Elizabeth Berg reads from her new novel at Darien's Frugal Muse

• Peggy Macnamara, a professor at the Art Institute of Chicago and an artist-in-residence at the Field Museum, will discuss "Rosie the Tarantula: A True Adventure in Chicago's Field Museum" and "The Peregrine Returns: The Art and Architecture of an Urban Raptor Recovery Program," two books that she illustrated, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Book Stall, 811 Elm St., Winnetka. • Authors Vida Cross, Lynne Handy, Wayne E. Johnson, Kurt Luchs and Chris Reid will discuss their works at the next Waterline Writers event at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, in the art gallery at Water Street Studios, 160 S. Water St., Batavia. Cross presents "Bronzeville at Night: 1949"; Handy discusses "Where The River Runs Deep"; Johnson discusses "The Militarized Zone: What Did You Do in the Army, Grandpa?"; humorist Luchs shares "It's Funny Until Someone Loses an Eye (Then It's Really Funny)"; and Reid presents a variety of poetry.
