Channel 2 adds 'Monsters and Money' to morning lineup

Mike North has once again landed jelly side up, along with longtime partner Dan Jiggetts. They'll head a new show at WBBM-TV Channel 2 starting in February called "Monsters and Money in the Morning."

The show, running from 5 to 7 weekdays, will feature North and Jiggetts on sports, along with financial news from columnist Terry Savage and business reporter Mike Hegedus, formerly of CNBC. Anchor-reporter Susan Carlson and meteorologist Mark Kay Kleist will also contribute.

"It's time for something new and smart that will differentiate CBS 2 from its competitors," said Channel 2 President & General Manager Bruno Cohen. "We are targeting an underserved television audience - Chicagoans who are passionate about sports and want to stay on top of local business news and personal finance - while at the same time continuing to provide the news headlines, weather and traffic information that people want before leaving home in the morning."

North and Jiggetts, longtime partners on all-sports WSCR 670-AM, most recently had a morning TV show on Comcast SportsNet Chicago, but it was canceled after a little more than six months following the collapse of David Hernandez's sponsoring Webio venture. "Monsters and Money in the Morning" is to debut Feb. 1.
