Letter: Avoid nuclear war

We recently watched the 1959 film "On The Beach." Everyone in Congress and our 80-year-old President should be required to see it. This is the story of a fallout cloud from a nuclear war of unknown reasons that is drifting south to kill the last survivors in Australia. Yes, Putin is a monster but we must stop sending ever more heavy weapons depleting our own reserves and escalating the war and money we have borrowed from China to Ukraine.

They may be determined not to give up one square foot of land and to take back Crimea, but we need to focus on this country and avoiding a nuclear conflict. The fools in our government from both parties could easily stumble and bubble their way into a nuclear war with a crazy person. A group of countries such as India, Turkey and France should be enlisted to negotiate a peace where both sides can save face and rebuild the area.
