Letter: What's the deal with carved up roads?

I am inquiring about what is happening with the streets around here.

First, Main Street and Central Road in Mount Prospect. It was early May, I think, when it was dug up and the old broken pavement was scraped off. It's been left that way ever since. The sewer covers are quite higher than what is left, and I have seen cars hitting them at high speed and bottoming out, in some cases almost losing control.

I have yet to see any replacing machines anywhere around here this year. Where are they?

Also, Central Road as you go by Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights is in horrendous condition. Even all the asphalt patches have patches.

We had better roads on Highway 1 in Vietnam.

I think we could have a couple repaving machines working 24/7 in the Mount Prospect - and pour the new asphalt thicker than in the past, as the thin coating peels up as soon as it gets hot or cold and the potholes reappear in no time.
