Letter: Candidates show no respect for democracy

I am absolutely dumbfounded by the candidates who are embracing Donald Trump for their respective campaigns. Isn't this the same guy who performed a major role in the insurrection of our nation's Capitol? Isn't this the same guy who tried to illegally overturn the results of the presidential election? Isn't this the same guy who publicly and illegally tried to get the state of Georgia to find the votes necessary for him to win the election in that state? Isn't this the same guy who refused to participate in the transfer of power from his presidency to the presidency of the new, democratically elected candidate?

Forgive me, but I can't find it anywhere in my heart, or my eyesight, or my ability to hear, or my ability to reason, to show, any respect whatsoever, to a person who has shown such profound disrespect for our country, our democracy, our rule of law, truth, and the people of our great country.

The man appears shameless, as do some of his followers.
