Disappointing editorial

I am deeply disappointed by the Daily Herald editorial on the Haymarket issue in Itasca. This is a question of putting a massive drug addiction center in a small town with one ambulance. Both the planning committee and village board have done an exceptional job of listening to presentations for over two years to analyze the situation.

The writer of this editorial appears to have written a superficial and glib opinion without understanding in depth the issues involved. Everyone, including Itasca residents, are for drug rehabilitation treatment centers, but a village has the right and obligation to evaluate the municipal and financial demands of a center of this size.

Especially of concern is that Haymarket can cancel some of their proffers at will. Concerns that have been raised by Itasca village were only addressed in your editorial as a straw man to be knocked down rather than given their due. As stated before, deeply disappointing.
