Numbers show Pritzker's actions have saved lives

There has been a lot of criticism lately concerning Pritzker's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. I really understand this. There is a deep feeling that runs through Americans, especially Republicans, that government should not be giving us instructions as to how we handle our own bodies. (This argument seems to break down when applied to abortion, but that is part of another debate.)

Let's compare the results of Pritzker's COVID response verses DeSantis' response in Florida, which is to pretend that COVID doesn't exist.

Florida has slightly less than twice the population of Illinois. (21.6 million to 12.8 million). On Sept. 12 Florida had a seven-day daily average of new COVID cases more than four times the number of reported daily infections in Illinois. (15,606 in Florida to 3,762 in Illinois). But that really isn't the really significant number. On Sept 12, Florida reported a seven-day average daily death toll more than 10 times the seven-day average reported daily death toll in Illinois. (350 to 33).

We can all complain about current restrictions, but the truth is there are a whole bunch of people who are alive in Illinois thanks to Pritzker. Perhaps some of those people are your relatives, or maybe you.

Even though you might not agree with everything he has done, I believe we should thank him for doing his best to protect us.
