Praise for Benny White for Naperville Council

I'm writing to share my support for the reelection of Naperville City Councilman Benny White.

Councilman White has been a stalwart supporter of the social service agencies, values the importance of engaging the community - from our youth to our seniors - and has been a tireless advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

Benny started a grass-roots organization, Naperville Neighbors United, to help build an inclusive community that celebrates diversity.

As a retired law enforcement official, I was impressed with how Benny listened to concerns from the audience about their experiences with police. He shared that as a son of a retired cop he is keenly aware of the importance of building trust between the community and police.

Benny mentioned that Naperville Police Chief Bob Marshall is committed to listening and talking with all residents in order to build this trust. I recall how Benny's leadership bridged the gap between a group of black youth and Chief Marshall by bringing them together to discuss their perceptions and to clear any misconceptions from both sides.

Please vote for him April 6.
