Schools should show more accountability

Last August I asked in a letter t the editor that districts 214 and 23 rebate property taxes due to remote learning. It now appears Naperville school District 203 will soon be issuing property tax rebates totaling $10 million of between $500 to $1,000 per home due to remote learning.

The district saved 6.5% of tax dollars due to remote learning and is returning half of that savings to the taxpayers.

When can I expect to see the same from districts 214 and 23? These two districts continue to deflect from the actual pandemic education costs and concentrate on actual spending presentations and the writing of purchase orders to match the tax income. The presentation of pandemic standardized test results and actual education costs would most likely show a lower cost and inferior education only benefiting the districts and teacher unions to the detriment of the students and their families.

These districts continue to display no accountability and wasted tax dollars during this pandemic.
