ERA is long overdue

No, women are still not equally protected in the U.S. Constitution. On Jan. 27 of last year, the 38th state ratified the Equal Rights Amendment. But the Department of Justice refused to authorize the U.S. archivist to certify the ERA, and the U.S. Senate refused to follow the House in removing the long past, unconstitutional deadline. The bill was reintroduced on Jan. 21 (HJR 17) and will pass with bipartisan support. Isn't it time we practice what we preach about gender equity? Tell Sen. Duckworth and especially Sen. Durbin to get on board.
