A mall's decline

Your Jan. 15 editorial about the Charlestowne Mall and surrounding area has caused me to write a letter to the editor. Initially we loved the Charlestowne Mall and shopped there frequently. It was lovely place where we could shop at the variety of nice stores, get something to eat, get some exercise (early in the morning before the stores opened), etc. The carousel was a treat for kids, grandkids and parents. But over the years, the mall was taken over of obnoxious loud teenagers with filthy mouths, blocking foot traffic and being genuinely repulsive. The place should have had some/more security officers to get the kids to obey or leave. Since that did not happen, we left and really have not missed it very much. We are delighted the Von Maur store remains. It is lovely.
