Protect the outdoors

Thank you for Thursday's article about the resurgence of biking, as well as local improvements on forest preserves and bike trails. As someone who loves being in nature, it was heartening to see the amount of work being put in to improving our local outdoor areas. As you mentioned, the pandemic has given us a new appreciation for nature - an appreciation that we should turn into national action. H.R. 763, The Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act, will significantly cut our carbon emissions: 40% in just 12 years. It also gives the money back to the people, economically benefiting low- and middle-income Americans. I would love to see Rep. Foster support this in Congress, representing our dedication to preserving our outdoor spaces and essential Illinois bike industry. That way, everyone can continue to discover the joys of biking outside for years to come.
