You don't have to be in church to pray

As I, like many others, spend this Thanksgiving without family, I turned on my television and learned of the Supreme Court's decision to allow houses of worship to conduct in-person services during this pandemic.

This decision does not surprise me.

What does, however, is that there are people who believe you cannot worship God unless you are in a "temple" of some sort. I feel sorry for those people.

As a member of the "high risk" population I have not been to church since March, but I continue to worship every day and feel confident God hears me.

I keep in touch with my pastors and members of our congregation in myriad ways, and will rejoice when we can all be together again.

During World War II, I had four uncles who served overseas. There was a saying then: "There are no atheists in foxholes."

We spent many holidays without them, but they were always in our prayers. I feel confident they prayed wherever they were.

Just because your house of worship is open, don't feel it necessary to go there.

Your Lord will hear you from wherever you pray!
