Not worthy of praise

Hayden Sledge's recent letter described Jeanne Ives as a woman of authenticity, and I agree. Much like Donald Trump, Ives rarely makes an effort to pass off her destructive ideas as sensible policies. She broadcasts her backward, bigoted viewpoints as plainly and simply as she can. But Ives' version of authenticity isn't something to be praised - it's merely a reflection of her intention to deepen the divisions in our society, and proof that she's badly out of touch with the majority of voters in the 6th district. We're much better off sending Sean Casten - who I believe has an authentic desire to serve the best interests of the district and the country - back to Congress for a second term.
