Leaders saving lives

In a recent letter, Mr. Bob Kopp took issue with the state of Illinois and the city of Chicago's budget shortfalls, placing blame on "the shutdown of the state's economy." No, the Illinois economy was not shut down; it's people were, this due to a worldwide pandemic called COVID-19. Both Gov. Pritzker and Mayor Lightfoot understand that people's lives are paramount and controlling the spread of this scourge has been a main job for both. Interesting, too, on the day the Herald posted Mr. Kopp's remarks, on the opposite page, was a story with the title, "Illinois Surpasses 250,000 COVID-19 CASES." Money can always be made or lost, but once you're dead, last I checked, you're dead.
