A woman of authenticity

As a young woman, I continue to see that women are held to different standards. We women must be presentable, but relatable. We must be attractive, but not too pretty. This balance is especially difficult for political female candidates.

Congressional candidate Jeanne Ives speaks to how a hired consultant once encouraged her to ditch the sweatpants, even if she just needed to run to the grocery store. The sweatpants would not cut it, apparently.

With humor and spunk, Ives responded with, "I have five kids at home. If I need to go to the store, I'll wear sweats if I need to. I still go to the store wearing sweats."

Jeanne Ives is a woman of authenticity. She is a mother and public servant who wants to represent the Sixth District with transparency and honesty. Who says a woman can't rock a pair of sweatpants while doing that?
