IRS should let us donate via returns

Illinois offers taxpayers the opportunity to contribute any amount over $1 to any of five causes when filing their personal income tax returns.

Want to help the homeless and hungry? It is on Schedule G.

The Internal Revenue Service should offer something similar. The list could have numerous worthy causes to choose from.

This way people could easily support their favored causes whether it be $1, $100, $1,000 and take some pressure off government officials to "do something" with resources already over committed.
