Understand difficulties that police face

I find it amazing that the "experts" in the news media are so critical of police officers when they have absolutely no idea what a police officer does every day. If you "experts" want an idea, go for a drive-along with the CPD on a weekend in a hot July or August on the south side of Chicago.

There you will find the officers facing gang bangers shooting at each other and passers-by with no concern for life or death. I'll bet not one of the "experts" will do just that.

Back in the '60s, the "self-certified experts" crucified the police at the time by calling them scumbags, vermin, pigs and other vile names during the riots going on in Chicago at the time. Suddenly during the riots, a bumper sticker appeared that simply said "If you hate cops, the next time you're in trouble call a hippie." More and more cars carried that sticker and soon even "the experts" realized that without the police, there is no one to protect us from the thieves, marauders and even killers among us.

This does not justify the tragedy that occurred in Minnesota, but understand police put up with much turmoil and chaos every day.

I have a corollary to the bumper sticker. "If you hate cops and someone is breaking into your house, call Pritzker and Lightfoot, but don't expect them to come in your lifetime." Again, politicians are expert at nothing.
