Candidate on the wrong side of history

During her failed 2018 run for governor, Jeanne Ives mailed out an appeal letter with a book titled "The Governor You Don't Know." The below quote is from that book:

"Though wife Diana was a strong Democrat, it was reasonable for Illinois voters to believe that Gov. Rauner wore the pants in the marriage and would wear them in the Governor's Mansion."

One hundred years ago, women finally gained the right to vote in this country. It was an ugly fight. Anti-suffragists warned if women got the vote, men would become weak and no longer "wear the pants." How shameful to have a female candidate embrace and spread the same propaganda used over 100 years ago, to divide the sexes and keep women from voting.

Ives didn't stop there. Two months later, on May 30, 2018, she joined a minority of Illinois House members in voting against the Equal Rights Amendment. If ratified, the ERA would finally guarantee women equal rights with men in the U.S. Constitution.

Jeanne Ives joins a regrettable list of women on the wrong side of American history, who chose to work against progress for women and girls in exchange for power. She should not be rewarded with a seat in the United States Congress.

Rep. Sean Casten understands that equal rights are not special rights. Since taking office, Sean Casten co-sponsored the Paycheck Fairness Act and the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2019. He voted for H.J. Res. 79, a resolution to remove the arbitrary 1982 deadline for ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment as an amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

In light of these facts, on November 3rdI'll be voting for Sean Casten, to ensure the lives of all Americans can continue on a path of decency and progress.
