Our 'Klaata Barad Nikto' moment

"The Day The Earth Stood Still" is a 1951 sci-fi movie about an alien that comes to earth to warn the global leaders that if they don't stop all the fighting and discord, the earth will be destroyed. In order to prove his point to the leaders and everyone else, the alien arranges for everything on earth to stop.

Of course essential services like hospitals, fire and police protection, etc., remain in operation. He had a robot assistant that was ready to start the destruct sequence. "Klaatu Barada Nikto" was the phrase used to abort the destruct sequence.

If left unchecked, the current pandemic could possibly do away with our present civilization. Our leaders and scientists are pleading with everyone to stay home and not interact with others. Yes, it is very difficult and frustrating, especially in a country that allows many freedoms. As difficult as this may seem, we must heed their warnings and cooperate.

This is an effort to stop the spread of the virus. This is their way of saying "Klaata Barada Nikto."
