Candidate right for state Supreme Court

I am writing on behalf of Justice Margaret Stanton McBride, a candidate for the Illinois Supreme Court.

Justice McBride grew up in Mount Prospect and attended Sacred Heart of Mary High School in Rolling Meadows. She has been found highly qualified by the Chicago Bar Association and by the Illinois State Bar Association. The Chicago Bar Association noted that "Justice McBride has a distinguished record as an Appellate Court Justice and is highly regarded for her knowledge of the law, legal ability, integrity, excellent demeanor and work ethic."

Justice McBride has further connections to the Northwest Suburbs and Northwest Cook County in her previous role as presiding judge of the Third Municipal District in Rolling Meadows. While presiding judge, Justice McBride was a leader in efforts in Cook County to combat domestic violence and was the first countywide domestic violence coordinator for the Circuit Court of Cook County.

Prior to being appointed to the bench as an associate judge in Cook County, Justice McBride served 10 years as an assistant state's attorney in Cook County. She was elected to the Illinois Appellate Court in 1998 and has served in that capacity since that time.

I have followed Justice McBride's career and have found her opinions to be well thought-out, fair and well-articulated.

In my view, a judge, particularly a justice on the Supreme Court, must have complete and total integrity, empathy, and a strong knowledge of the law with a common touch. I believe that Justice McBride has served and met that criteria on the Appellate Court and believe that she would continue to do so on the Supreme Court.

I strongly endorse Justice McBride and encourage the voters of the Northwest Suburbs of Cook County to review her record and support her candidacy for the Illinois Supreme Court.
