Act protects rights of workers

As the product of a union family, I want to thank Rep. Lauren Underwood for supporting the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act earlier this month.

Not only would this legislation protect collective bargaining from partisan attacks that lower workers" earnings, health care, and retirement savings, but it also strengthens the enforcement of laws that prohibit employers from violating workers" most fundamental rights.

The stock market might be surging, but the effects of the economic rally sometimes don't trickle down to ordinary workers.

Rep. Underwood's support of the PRO Act demonstrates her commitment to ensuring that working men and women share in the prosperity of our nation and that their rights on the job are protected at the same time.

Whether or not they hold a union card, every worker would be better off under the PRO Act, and I only hope that the United States Senate will follow the lead of the House and pass the PRO Act without delay.
