Politicians and the law

The other day I was listening to the radio when a representative of our good state was talking about the presidential impeachment proceedings and made the statement that if this were a criminal case, it would go to the grand jury in a heartbeat but because it is a political proceeding, it will end up nowhere. Now I am in no way knowledgeable about laws, but I get out of this that if you or I did what the president did we would be in legal trouble, but if we were a politician we would go completely free.

Now, these proceedings were set up, I understand, by politicians so as not to be legal in a court of law that we have to follow but in their court of law, which has a meaning that they only understand. So, this means if we the people do not follow the law, we go to jail, but politicians do not have to follow any kind of law; they can do what ever they want and laugh at us all the way to their bank.

I am old but I cannot believe that this country has become so sad and we have let these politicians get this far out of hand without stopping this system. People, the elections are coming up, stop voting party lines and get rid of this problem now or stop complaining.
