Urge communities to ban pot sales

"Recreational" shouldn't be an adjective for drugs, including THC (the psychoactive chemical in cannabis). Particles smoked or vaped into lungs cause damage. It will be legal for neighbors to send pot smoke into others" airways. Illinois will have more high individuals, DUIs and crime. Google: cdc.gov and "Marijuana with Paranoia and Schizophrenia."

Because marijuana is federally illegal, the FDA is reluctant to regulate it. Therefore, THC's quality, quantity and enforcement fall on state and local governments; but Illinois is broke.

Advocate: It's easier when you're against something to imagine the boogeyman. Truth: "No one gets money from the tooth fairy without giving up a tooth. We are giving up - safer roads, family members" safety nets to prevent use due to pot's legality, lung safety, not needing to deal with potential psychosis and other health issues.

Advocate: People are already buying and selling pot. Truth: "Criminals," but not the general public buys now.

Advocate: The perception will shift; stores will be like boutiques. Truth: It is not good to normalize any vice. This tricky marketing scheme is to sell harmful substances in beautiful packaging just like "flavored" vaping devices have done and is a deceptive THC trap.

Advocate: "Do you want a licensed, highly regulated entity that you tax or do you want the drug dealer who's been working here for a long time?" Truth: Disreputable drug dealers won't stop selling. Pot from unlicensed drug dealers will be cheaper as no tax or overhead from "boutiques." Our government is banking on new users - over 21 (many still in school) to buy "recreational" pot.

Many states' areas banned selling pot. Others now spend much tax money on mental health, addiction services and homelessness. Marijuana is considered a gateway drug. Write your mayor and local board asking to ban recreational pot selling.
