It's Senate that dawdles on guns

I would like to rebut Charles Brown's letter on Aug. 17 that stated "House is focusing on the wrong thing."

He incorrectly claimed the House is not doing anything to address gun control. He further claimed the House should send a bill to the Senate and make the Senate vote it down.

The House has passed two gun-control bills. The bills passed back in February 2019. They now wait on the Senate. Unfortunately, the House can't "make" the Senate vote on them. The only person who can schedule the vote is Mitch McConnell. What has Mitch McConnell done for this House gun control bill? Nothing.

What has Mitch McConnell done for any sort of gun control? Nothing.

Last week, the president was advocating for gun control. Recently, I read the president talked to the NRA and now is backtracking on gun control legislation. It is mind-boggling that the NRA can stop legislation that the majority of Americans want passed.

The Senate is doing nothing about gun control. The president is doing nothing about gun control. The House has done something but can only sit and wait. And sadly, we Americans can only sit and wait.
