Safety concerns forced parade cancellation

The Lombard Lilac Parade Committee would like to thank all those who have unflaggingly supported Lombard and the Lilac Parade. It is through your good works and civil service that Lombard has become the wonderful community that it is today. Our appreciation seems even more important this year considering the parade's cancellation.

It was not an easy decision to make, however in conjunction with The National Weather Service, the Lombard Police and Fire departments and the village manager, it was determined that the safety of all, took precedence over the need to have the parade. Although the major storm never materialized in Lombard, it was the right call to make at the time for safety's sake.

So once again, please allow the Parade Committee to thank you most sincerely for your support, and assure you that the committee is already planning next year's parade - "Happy 150th Birthday, Lombard - Take 2!"

We would especially like to thank all of our sponsors, without whose financial support this parade would not be possible.
