'Privilege' is tool to protect the presidency

Your Opinion of May 10, Abuse of privilege, concluded that by invoking presidential privilege over the release of the unredacted Mueller Report, President Donald Trump "would end congressional oversight now and forever."

On the contrary, it is the duty of the president to protect the integrity and independence of the executive branch against reckless and irresponsible attacks from congressional oversight. His tool is presidential privilege.

The opinion lied by omission. There are several facts that were conveniently omitted. 1% percent of the Muller report is actually redacted, which includes grand jury testimony, release of which is against the law. Should the president and attorney general break the law to comply with an unlawful congressional subpoena?

The report, as redacted, is available online for anyone who can read to read.

House members were given the opportunity to review the unredacted report in a designated safe place. How many Democrats took the offer? None. So much for truth seeking.

It is well-established that any investigation needs credible evidence of possible wrongdoing. House Judiciary committee Chairman Nadler has provided none, because there is none.

President Donald Trump is not required by law to release the Mueller report. He did it for the sake of transparency, the report is online. No hiding, no Russian collusion, Noobstruction of justice.

This mock search for truth is a sham; it is a witch hunt. It is an ongoing mission by avowed Trump-hating Democrats, aided and abetted by a corrupt, lying news/opinion media, CNN, MSNBC, etc., to take down our duly elected president by any means possible. Incessant talk of impeachment. Democrats riddle: how to invent "high crimes and misdemeanors"?)

Shame on all of them. The day of reckoning, the 2020 election, is coming.
