Cubs fans mistreated Russell
I will in no way defend the actions of Addison Russell. However, how can fans boo him upon his successful return to Wrigley? He paid his price, endured his suspension, attended therapy sessions and apologized to everyone.
When Addison Russell came up from the minors, he was to be the Cubs' next savior, even more than Starlin Castro before him.
But c'mon.
He was actually married and the father of his children. He did not have the baby out of wedlock. He did not rape anyone. He did not beat or kick anyone. HHe admitted his misdeeds.
Unlike so many other sports stars who are in their early twenties and have millions of dollars, he took responsibility for his actions.
It's only in the most recent years of sports that the leagues have made any statements on the outside behavior of their athletes.
C'mon Chicago, let's give Addison a break.
