Disappointed with latest Arlington Heights library book sale

What gives with the Arlington Heights Library book sales? Not the library, that's for sure!

I've been going to the Arlington book sales for about 35 years. Just recently I've noticed more and more things have been discontinued for us the book buyers and supporters. In years gone by it was a friendly atmosphere with smiling people greeting you. Now each time I go it feels like a trip to the DMV ... I get what I went there for, but I don't have that warm buzzy feeling I had when I left the library sales years ago.

I have four questions to the "powers that be". 1) Why did you do away with the free book certificate for a paperback? 2) Why don't you still have bag sales on Sundays for adults? 3) Why don't you have your half-price specials any more? 4) Why do you have F.O.L. (Friends of the Library) books for $1 instead of 50 cents?

What was wrong with the "old way" of doing things? The library makes money and I felt good getting a little perk here and there. I'm guessing some new people must be calling the shots now as that warmness is long gone along with my money ...

I would like to thank all the volunteers who work so hard setting up for the book sales. A lot of time and energy spent before, during and after sale on their part.
