Berman backs Smith, Weidenfeld for Buffalo Grove re-election

I want to share a few thoughts about the two incumbent candidates seeking re-election as Buffalo Grove village trustees, David Weidenfeld and Eric Smith. Both have my support and I hope they have yours as well.

There is no dispute that Dave started his involvement in the village as an opponent. Over the past four years, we haven't always agreed. But the areas on which we agreed far eclipse the occasional points of disagreement.

Dave is a high-character and highly-intelligent individual, a diligent and productive member of the board. He is consistently willing to listen, learn, thoughtfully explore ideas, and even occasionally change his mind.

He has grown to become a key contributor, excellent collaborator and analytical policymaker. In short, he is an excellent board member. Despite our adversarial beginnings, Dave has earned my respect, my trust and my support.

Eric Smith has a long and distinguished record of multifaceted service to our community. Through his participation on various village boards and commissions, along with independent service organizations like Rotary and Chamber of Commerce, Eric has shown a commitment to the betterment of our village in both word and deed. Since being appointed to the board for the second time (and I am proud to say I fought to secure that appointment), Eric has brought a strong community focus and business perspective to the board.

He also consistently demonstrates the kind of levelheaded pragmatism and open-mindedness that is essential to successful collaboration and policy-making. Eric, too, has become a superb member and key contributor to the Board.

I have come to value Dave and Eric as colleagues. Each offers a unique, critical perspective that has enhanced the level of discourse and productivity of the board. Their knowledge, experience and contributions are essential to maintain continuity and help ensure future success.
