Assessment politics

Thank you for printing Dan Patlak's article on HB354 and SB124. I would like to know which state representatives plan to vote yes or no on this issue, for the suburbs to receive equal staff and resources relative to other Cook areas.

I called offices for both my state representatives to ask for yes votes on HB354 and SB124. For Democrat Ann Gillespie's office, I could only leave a voice mail message and so could not determine if she will vote yes. I also phoned Republican Tom Morrison's office. I spoke with his assistant, who told me that Tom actually sponsored the bill.

Ann Gillespie is a Democrat and although other suburban Democrats have committed to SB124, her position is not clear.

The only logical reason I can think of for her to be opposed would be if she wants to look out for her own future within the Democratic party rather than giving fair resources to our Cook suburbs that she represents.
