Blaming the poor

The United States has one of the least generous systems of public assistance in the western world.

Still, politicians continue to cut the social safety net, arguing that they are helping impoverished people by doing so. The poor are judged as lazy and for the most part held to blame for their own distress.

No responsibility is placed on the economic system which produces losers and the lack of adequately paying jobs.
