Science and beginning of life

This is in regard to Mr. Uhlarik's letter regarding science and the beginning of life. Since the word "life" has highly charged emotions in the abortion debate, science uses the word viability in its place. Viability is defined as the point at which the fetus can survive on its own outside the womb. The consensus by science is that this is around the 24th week of pregnancy. So science has defined it and there is no secret in the media about this point.

However, it seems that everyone has a different definition of the beginning of life, and it is difficult to hit a moving target depending upon each individual. So viability has been defined and now each person can determine their own answer.
