Parkey getting kicked to the curb

Cody Parkey deserves better. His deflected field goal did cost the Bears a chance to beat the Philadelphia Eagles in the play offs. But let's see what led up to that kick. A terrible call by Coach Nagy to run a 170-pound Gabriel into the line on the 2-point conversion, sitting on the ball instead of playing aggressively, O'Donnell's 30-yard shank punt that gave the Eagles great field position. The offense was very average at best. Then look at the film. The Parkey field goal attempt was deflected.

How about putting some of the blame on the Bears' field goal special team blocking. Parkey is a class act the way he handled our brilliant news media's questions. Now the Bears want to sign a college field goal kicker with a 74.6 average when Parkey made 76.7 of his field goals last year. Give me a break. Parkey made 3 consecutive field goals prior to the deflected try.

Let's cut this kid some slack. You don't win football games by scoring only one touchdown. There is a lot of fault to spread around why the Bears lost that game to the Eagles. Parkey was only a part of it.
