The real issues for military cemetery

I and all the residents of South Barrington resent the article by Rich Williamson published in the Daily Herald on Nov. 19, "Understand traditions of military cemetery."

Mr. Williamson, we do understand the traditions and we hope you do understand that in your letter, you not only offended our mayor but also all of us that live in South Barrington. Many of us served honorably in the military. Some of us served in combat and were lucky to come back home in one piece. We served to protect our Country, to protect our homes and your home too. To protect free speech, that is why you were able to write this offensive letter with out even trying to find out the truth and what is actually going on with VA and the people that live only a few feet from this proposed Cemetery.

My home is only about 20 feet from this proposal. My family and I have been here 32 years. I was one of the lucky men that came back home, physically, in one piece. The sound of even a fire cracker disturbs me. Several families with small children live next to this vacant land, zoned residential (single family). We moved in to this subdivision because we were looking for a quiet neighborhood.

I fought to protect our homes and that is what I am doing now. I don't need your thanks for my service, I don't need your sarcasm and your insulting comments. I and many of us need your support.

I, the mayor and all of us in the subdivision need all of you to understand that we are not what you are saying in your letter. There are several other locations in South Barrington more suitable to honor our dead soldiers.
