Mendoza is not trustworthy

An article in the Nov. 15 Daily Herald took a look at allegations that Susana Mendoza is a minion of both the Hispanic Democratic Organization and Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan. Mendoza recently announced her candidacy for mayor of Chicago, barely a week after being re-elected as state comptroller.

I believe the more salient concern when examining Mendoza's qualification for the mayoral post or any other elected office is her lack of honesty and forthrightness. Her run for state comptroller was a complete sham. While campaigning for that office, she was already focused on and preparing for a mayoral run that was to begin immediately after the midterm elections. She clearly had no intention of fulfilling her duties as comptroller. This became obvious when a video of her campaign commercial for the mayoral post surfaced shortly before the November 6 election. Mendoza claimed at the time that she was just keeping options open and denied that any decision had been made regarding a run to replace outgoing mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Mendoza asked the people of Illinois to place their trust in her that she would dutifully execute the responsibilities of state comptroller, knowing that her campaign was a lie and her real intention was to springboard immediately to a different campaign that would preclude her from fulfilling those duties. This is an insult to voters and is sufficient reason in my view to disqualify her for any elected office. She has only her own political aspirations in mind and shows no sense of obligation to her constituency.
