Then and now

I hope the past does not reflect the future. In Europe in the 1930s, they had a madman spreading false rumors about the Jews causing all their problems.

They would be great again if they would get rid of this problem, he said. He complained of false and fake news. He was a powerful speaker spreading fear and racial hatred and was capable of convincing the people in his country that he was right and the Jews must go. We all know what happened.

Today we have someone in power who is telling us the news media are all false and fake and that only his distorted views are correct and will make America great again.

He spreads fear that the people of color trying to get into our country are criminals, murderers or terrorists. This is furthest from the truth and a racially biased plea to his followers.

Democracy and liberty cannot survive in this country with racial hatred. People from Central America are fleeing on foot for their lives from murderers and terrorists. Most are women and children.
