Former Mount Prospect mayor 'honored' to endorse Rooney

I am honored to endorse Tom Rooney for re-election as state senator of the 27th Senate District.

I have known Tom for a number of years. He served six years as mayor of the City of Rolling Meadows and during that time he met the challenges of the diverse issues of local government with professionalism.

I previously served as mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect and realized the benefit of serving in local government - I moved on to address the many issues of state government as a representative in the Illinois House.

As state senator for the past two years, Tom has been an active contributor in Senate committee discussions as well as on the Senate floor. As a high school economics teacher he is a perfect fit to advance his commitment to education; he serves as minority spokesperson on the Higher Education committee.

Tom also acknowledges the hard work that has to be addressed in the upcoming session to finally solve the difficult problem of pension reform. He is willing to accept the challenge to work on this issue head-on. He serves on the Licensed Activities and Pension committee.

As difficult as it will be to move the issue of pension reform forward, Tom is also involved in establishing sound balanced-budgeting and a yearly balanced budget must be adopted hereafter.

Please join with me in voting for Tom Rooney for state senator.
