The Daily Herald endorses Steve Weber for another term as Will County treasurer.

It is true, as Will County treasurer hopeful Tim Brophy says, that all incumbents need to be challenged. Voters need choices, and they have a legitimate one in Brophy. A former Joliet City Council member, Democrat Brophy is vying for the position held by two-term Republican Treasurer Steve Weber, and he says he will be in the office, be transparent and examine how money is invested.

Yet it is also true that experience counts. Weber says he has brought savings to the office and has made paying taxes easier through a prepayment program. He also has brought investing management in-house, added a smartphone app and is in the process of including more digital means to pay property taxes.

We're glad voters have a choice to consider, but with his record of achievement in the treasurer's office and with his past role as auditor, Weber has a lot going for him. He recommend voters elect him to another term as treasurer.
