Voters in Illinois House District 84 will choose between Democratic incumbent Stephanie Kifowit of Oswego and Republican challenger Patty Smith of Aurora.
We like Kifowit, who has been an effective legislator in her previous terms and grows increasingly more impressive.
She possesses more depth of insight on the state's challenges than Smith, a good candidate who needs to offer more solid solutions to the issues.
Kifowit, on the other hand, offers concrete ideas to respond to high property taxes and the pension funding crisis.
Her voting history speaks for itself, and she has proved she can work across the aisle on important legislation.
She has experience on two budget committees, and her experience at both the state and local levels makes her our choice.
